Carter mending

USM sophomore forward Clement Carter had successful arthroscopic surgery last week to remove a piece of floating cartilage in his knee that had become lodged in the joint.
His recovery period was expected to be a minimum of two weeks, and Saturday he said that target was not out of the realm of reason.
"I'm progressing very well," said Carter, who played just seven minutes against Houston on Jan. 23 and has missed USM's past three games with TCU, Saint Louis and Tulane.
"The thing is, there's been no pain at all. The trainers have done a great job. I've been getting treatment two or three times a day."
Carter first injured the knee during a Jan. 22 practice, then aggravated the injury when he became entangled in the lane going for a rebound at Houston. Carter was one of only two Golden Eagles averaging in double-figure scoring (10.4 points per game), and he was third on the team in rebounding (5.4 rebounds per game).
Carter has had eight games with 10 points or more, with a career-high 24 against Millsaps.
